Different project routes call for different technical responsibilities.
What to confirm
OEM may focus on a defined product and packaging brief, while CDMO may require development and scale-up work. Specify who owns formulation, testing, artwork and regulatory review at the outset.
A practical review checklist
- Exact identity, proposed grade and quantity
- Packaging, offered batch and analytical documents
- Destination, quotation scope and development responsibilities
Turn the checklist into a written specification
Record which details are fixed, which need technical review and which apply only to the offered batch. Keep identity, test method and commercial scope together so that different offers can be compared on the same basis. If an answer depends on a lot, package or manufacturing site, request the corresponding record before treating it as a general guarantee.
Review samples and documentation together
A useful sample evaluation defines the question, method and acceptance criterion before the sample is tested. Packaging appearance is only one part of the review. Analytical results, traceability records and product-specific handling information should correspond to the material under discussion. Separate preliminary development observations from agreed commercial release requirements.
Plan the next decision
Send the relevant identity, specification, quantity and destination market. Include an existing specification or technical brief when possible. Ask the supplier to identify missing information, assumptions and the records required for the next step. This makes it easier to review feasibility, sample scope and quotation terms without relying on unsupported stock, purity or delivery claims.
